Digital marketing after brexit

Why Digital Marketing Will Continue to Thrive After Brexit

In June 2016, we saw a moment in history when 51.8% of Britain voted to leave the EU. There has been much dispute for businesses over what will happen next; how will our economy stand? What will happen to our trading? Will business prevail?

But there is another question that needs answering: will digital marketing survive Brexit?

Initial anxiety will have slight impact

Just in case you’ve missed it, things have been pretty hectic in Britain since the referendum results and let’s be honest, many people are anxious about how these changes might affect them personally. Therefore companies may choose to reduce their marketing budgets, due to Britain’s economic change. However, in a time of uncertainty this is bound to happen and when the panic of Brexit dies down, businesses will choose to go back to their normal spending amounts.

There is no better time than the present

With businesses keeping a close eye on their finances, there is no better time than to invest in digital marketing services. The specific tools that we use (especially AdWords or Bing Ads) give precise numbers to where money is being invested and what revenue has been made. On top of that, with Pay-Per-Click (PPC) specialised account managers, they are qualified to analyse the figures and improve the client campaigns to ensure the best return on investment. This is a feature that offline marketing facilities will fall short of.

The Pound Has Dropped

The British pound has taken a bashing, as its value plummets to what looks like a 15% decrease and the cost against the dollar is at its lowest level since 1985.

UK products/services will be cheaper for foreign companies, including competition on UK keywords and for the most competitive keywords, this will result in the increase in CPC. However we have yet to see any of these changes take place and with your PPC campaign manager monitoring your AdWords, we will try and reduce the CPC as low as possible or you can pause or stop campaigns when needed.

How about Job Security?

Luckily for us, the digital industry is reliant on the progression and evolution of the digital world. Just because we have left the EU doesn’t mean that we have left the world (I know it may feel like it what with the current craze it has caused) and as moving forward is what we do best, we should look at this change as a time of excitement! We will continue to share our bond with EU countries but Brexit opens up bigger opportunities to connect with countries further afield, giving us a bigger scope to expand and enhance our digital knowledge.

Even though there are still large uncertainties about what will happen, we can look at the positive attributes of Brexit for the digital marketing industry. It is best to stay calm, embrace the change and see it as a way of working making new connections that may not have developed pre-Brexit.
