SEO Account Manager Vacancy

Job Description

Position Title: SEO Account Manager
Reports To: Account Director
Place of Work: Tues to Thurs Basingstoke Office. Mon and Fri work from home

Position Summary & Primary Objectives

Hi, I’m Chris and run the business with my wife Lucy. Having written the first very dull and boring version of this job description Lucy promptly told me to we write one that actually gets across who we are, so welcome to version 2 of our job description.

Ultimately we help SME businesses grow traffic to their websites through SEO and Google Ads. These are the two things we are really good at and decided a few years ago that rather than be a full service agency we would stick to what we know best and also easiest to show a real return on investment rather than the marketing people that do colouring.

The business has been going since 2006 but myself and Lucy properly took the reins in 2018 and we’ve been growing at +50% every year since. Lucy is the SEO/Google Ads expert so helps Dan (Account Director) and the rest of the team keep up to date with latest SEO stuff and the finer point of communicating with clients. Lucy likes to keep her hand in so also manages a few clients directly herself. Me, Chris, I do the Sales/Marketing/Finance/HR and recruiting for our business.

We are now a team of 11 and we’ve recruited at least one person each year for the past 4 years but the rate of recruitment is likely to be a bit higher now that we are growing a bit quicker. We want to grow but not at all costs and want to maintain the high levels of customer care that we train our staff in. The way we sell our services is to under promise and over deliver. No sales non sense or promising no1 Google rankings in 2 days but thoughtful experienced explanation on what is possible so that when you get handed a new client you start on the right footing of a client that understand the journey ahead.

Our clients are typically focussed on B2B so looking for enquiry form/phone call and emails although we do have ecommerce clients as well. We’ve structured the business so that the SEO Account Manager roles talk to the client and do the SEO work so no lost in translation with hierarchies. The contact point with our clients is usually either the business owner or the marketing manager depending on the size of the business. We have traditional businesses like accountants and lawyers through to fibre cabling, cyber security, school shelters, management consulting and software businesses. We don’t target one sector so you get a nice variety of businesses to talk through.

Our existing team are a mix of people with 10 + years’ experience and those that have come straight out of University with Marketing Degrees that we train up.

So we are looking for someone who has read the above and thinks that sounds like a really nice company to work through before reading further. But we will explain the others bits as well.

Ideally we’d like someone with a minimum 3 + years of agency experience, managing SEO campaigns for SME clients. We are offering a package of OTE £35k-40k pa dependent on experience. In addition to the OTE the company operate an annual company bonus pot shared amongst the team.

Other benefits include 25 days holiday plus your birthday off, private health care, flexible working, free Nespresso coffee (we love coffee), free parking and an onsite canteen.

You’ll see from above that we have people in the office 3 days per week and its solely because we are trying to build a team culture that embodies all the above which we think works best with office presence. We get more questions and intrigue when everyone is the office plus you can hear how everyone communicates with their clients. To help with building that team have team away days, Xmas events and work in a way where we all help each other in an open plan environment with no one hiding away in separate offices. Need to start late/finish early, no problem. Struggling with communication with a client, lets chat about how to tackle it differently. We all help each other.
