We Are Delighted to Announce Our Support of Basingstoke Town Football Club with Pitch Side Advertising
We know that even a small gesture can go a long way and so as a local business we wanted to show our support for our local football team – Basingstoke Town Football Club. The club and its supporters have suffered a couple of difficult years after being made homeless when in 2019 they had to leave their home, The Camrose. After being based there for 70 years, a previous Chairman bought the stadium and subsequently put the site up for sale with plans to redevelop the area.
With the pitch unable to be used, the club were forced to relocate to an alternative stadium which met the league’s requirements – Winchester City’s City Ground. Finally in October 2020 the club was able to return to Basingstoke and is now able to play home matches at nearby Winklebury. However, this is still only a temporary home as it is base for Hampshire FA and in high demand.
This whole process, including bringing the Winklebury site up to league standards, has incurred a lot of costs. This is on top of reduced gate receipts from playing ‘home’ games 20 miles away on a rented pitch. And like many other businesses they have also been affected during the pandemic with lots of games having to be cancelled.
The club are currently members of the Isthmian League South Central Division (the eighth level of the English football league system). Their motto, ‘Vestigia Nulla Retrorsum’, means ‘Never a step backward’ and it is hoped that this bit of stability will help them rebuild and gain promotion.
Chris Pearson, Director of Front Page Advantage adds “If the past year and a half has taught us anything then it’s that a vibrant and flourishing community are the foundations for a happy place to live. We have also come to appreciate more, our outdoor spaces, sporting facilities and the need for regular exercise. In light of all of this Front Page Advantage wanted to support a local organisation that embodies so many of these aspects. So when the opportunity to support the local football team came up, we unanimously said yes. All of us were really excited by the idea for many reasons, the main one being, we love football, and we really want to help our local club after such a difficult few years”
He goes on to say; “To be honest, it has been hard not having the club in Basingstoke and we really wanted to help and welcome them home. I guess you could say we’re ‘paying it forwards’. The club brings so much positivity to our community, and we need this now more than ever. Whether our help is through a financial contribution, moral support, mentions on this blog, social media or other outlets, we know that every small contribution helps. We are delighted with our pitch advertising banners. Take a look for yourselves.”
